Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
A member of the NHL All-Rookie Team in 1993, Vladimir Malakhov first spent seasons in his native Russia before making his NHL debut with the New York Islanders, and would later hoist the Stanley Cup in New Jersey. From his time in Montreal during the mid-1990s, we have a Canadiens jersey that was issued to Malakhov circa 1995-96. Center Ice and Maska labels grace the collar along with a size “58” fly tag, with CCM and NHL crests over the reverse hem. Styled with the most famous team crest in hockey, “38” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in layered tackle twill, with “Malakhov” across the affixed nameplate in single white twill. Issued but never worn, we should note that there is evidence of a former nameplate, but as Malakhov would have been the only player to wear the jersey, it would have been a different “Malakhov” nameplate that was switched, or the current example was re-positioned. An LOA from the Montreal Canadiens will accompany.
