Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020

While retired netminder Roland Melanson’s name appears on the back of this game-worn Montreal Canadiens jersey, careful research by our team at Classic Auctions has discovered that allows for attribution to being used by Ron Tugnutt during the 1994-95 season. Examination of the interior of the jersey shows that a slightly shorter nameplate had been attached to the jersey before being worn by Melanson, who donned it later in the decade during Canadiens Oldtimer games. A white home size 54 CCM game-used Montreal Canadiens jersey, it shows signs of being in action with a large stain on the right elbow, small hole on the right cuff, and black marks on the lower left arm and left middle chest beside the team crest. The tag on the collar has “54” faintly appearing in ink after being washed several times. At the back of the bottom hem, there is a large CCM logo and an orange and black NHL shield. Obtained directly from the Canadiens, a LOA from the team signed by Rejean Houle will accompany and it will only state that the jersey is a 1990s “Rolland Melancon” (sic) old time game worn jersey and does not stipulate that it might have been previously worn by Tugnutt.
