Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
The most recognizable jersey throughout the entire history of the sport, the Montreal Canadiens’ famous uniform has seen very few changes throughout the passing century, with the iconic “CH” logo identifiable by even the most casual of observers. This Habs jersey hails from the late-1990s and was worn by an unknown player with the surname Gauthier. With a Starter label affixed to the collar and measuring-out to roughly a size 54, embroidered CCM and Starter crests are present on the reverse hem. Featuring the Canadiens CH team crest partially-embroidered, the white V-neck has been accented with tri-colour tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with “Gauthier” across the sewn nameplate in single blue twill. Sporting light to moderate game-use which includes washed-out marks over the front and sleeves, there are also a few burns near the left elbow. An LOA from the Canadiens will accompany, and it should be noted that the “Luc Gauthier” listed is incorrect, as this particular Gauthier had already stopped playing by the time these 1997-98 jerseys were first used.
