Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
A graduate of Clarkson University, starring for the Golden Knights for four seasons, Craig Conroy was drafted by Montreal in 1990 and spent parts of two seasons in Quebec. Conroy would serve as a finalist for the Frank J. Selke Trophy twice throughout his lengthy career, and was nominated for the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy. This Montreal Canadiens jersey was issued to Conroy for the 1995-96 NHL season, where he appeared in 7 regular-season games. A Maska label resides along the collar with a size “56” fly tag, with embroidered CCM and NHL crests over the reverse hem (there is also a “12 94” date of manufacture sticker affixed to the label). Styled with the most famous team crest in hockey, “28” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in layered tackle twill, with “Conroy” across the affixed nameplate in single blue twill. Issued but never worn, there is evidence of a former longer nameplate, with Eric Desjardins wearing the #28 jersey in 1994-95. Considering when the jersey was produced (Dec, 1994), it would have been issued for Desjardins use in 1995, but only playing in 9 games for Montreal that season before being traded on Feb 9th, the jersey would have been further recycled for Conroy’s use in 1995-96, as he began wearing the #28 jersey that season. An LOA from the Montreal Canadiens will accompany.
