Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
The last club playing outside the NHL to lift Lord Stanley’s Cup, Lester Patrick’s Victoria Cougars handily defeated Les Canadiens de Montreal 3 games to 1 to become only the third team on the east coast to reign as World Champions. This lot contains a vintage bullhorn decorated to support the Cougars. At just over 32” in length, the bullhorn features a large “V” with small “c” above, along with “Champions 1924-25” all in dark green paint. Small portrait photos of players have been affixed in two vertical rows along the “V”, with a few above along with “Victoria Cougars”. Constructed out of what appears to be a type of celluloid, the horn has been joined by rivets with a centralized handle. Included with the horn is a pair of high-grade Victoria Cougars decorated mini-sticks.
The bullhorn shows wear and use, but remains in extremely pleasing condition, with marks, scratches and some staining/discolouration. Both mini-sticks have been hand-embellished, with the players listed in period ink on one stick. There are also remnants of both blue and gold coloured ribbons attached to one.
