Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014

Sensational trio here is the work of Frank Lanning and pays tribute to Bun Cook's lengthy success as an American Hockey League coach. Cook first coached the Providence Reds and is depicted putting a couple of crowns into a "Reds War Chest" in a 13" by 15" circa 1940 piece, while another (circa 1951) pitches Bun to become the new head coach of the Boston Bruins, after eight years leading the Cleveland Barons. A similar size (11" by 13") work is from his last year of coaching (1955-56) and lists his many AHL accomplishments; 17 of 19 years in playoffs, 10 regular season titles and 7 Calder Cup championships in 11 finals. Eye-catching and appealing, the three are framed and were originally obtained directly from Bun Cook's family.
