Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014

The legendary Lou Gehrig signed on the sweet spot of this awesome circa 1936 Reach Official American League baseball. The ill-fated New York Yankees captain won his second AL Most Valuable Player award with a career-high 167 runs, his second 49-home run season, 152 RBIs, a .354 batting average and a league-leading 130 walks, .478 OBP, .696 slugging percentage and 1.174 OPS. The Yankees began a then-record run of four straight World Series titles with a six-game win over the New York Giants. This was originally a Yankees team-signed baseball but the other autos have been removed to make it an affordable single-signed Gehrig ball. The black ink Gehrig autograph sits neatly on the sweet spot and the baseball is wonderfully preserved with light toning and the facsimile autograph of AL president William Harridge. A beauty to behold from the Yankees’ and baseball’s legendary Iron Horse. Comes with a PSA/DNA letter of authenticity.
