Before he became Captain Canada and one of the Edmonton Oilers’ most beloved players, Ryan Smyth was a standout with the WHL’s Moose Jaw Warriors. Chosen sixth overall by the Oil in the 1994 NHL draft, Smyth wore number 28 for the Warriors. This 1992-95 Warriors game-worn jersey was worn by Smyth, who subsequently added his autograph with his familiar #94 he wore with the Oilers. Maska and size 54 flag tags sit in the back of the neck. Solid game wear shows in marks, board burns, a repaired rear neck seam, a team repair on the right sleeve and a burn hole on the left sleeve. Ryan signed in black marker on the diagonal portion in the middle of the red and white double twill “2” sewn on the back.
Surname letters are embroidered in red and white thread onto a canvas type nameplate sewn on the back.
Playing for Team Canada, Smyth won world junior championship gold in 1995, an Olympic gold medal in 2002, and world championship gold in both 2003 and 2004.
