Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
Super St. Louis Blues jersey worn by goaltender Ernie Wakely during the 1970-71 campaign, his second season with the Blues after taking over from HOFer Glenn Hall. Tagged in the inner rear hem as a “Rawlings (size) 50” along with “Gielser-Jorgen” and washing instructions tags, this vintage Blues gamer features a small loop-style fight strap and has shortened sleeves. A peek inside the shirt reveals that it was hemmed up at the waist when it was sent down for use by a Providence-area high school sometime after the 1971 season and while originally obtained along with thirty-four other home and road jerseys from the set, this one was later un-hemmed. Game wear includes 3 circular team repairs on the right sleeve, small unrepaired holes on the back hem and right seam, and puckering is on the team crest and back number “31” which also shows parts of the numbers separated and torn, with wear on the areas of the number that originally had puckering.
