Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014

Incredible find is this 1933-36 AHA Tulsa Oilers game-worn wool jersey worn by Harold “Slim” Halderson, whose playing days included suiting up for the gold-medal winning Winnipeg Falcons at the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp, a member of the Stanley Cup champion Victoria Cougars in 1925, and a fellow who also saw action with the NHL Detroit Cougars and Toronto St. Pats. But it was as Slim was winding down his career in the pros that he donned this magnificent Tulsa Oilers black with white stripes gamer that’s tagged in the collar as “Renberg’s Inc., uniform specialists, Tulsa, Okla”, with a great sewn-on felt “Tulsa” crest on the front and number “2” on the back. This old wool classic hockey sweater shows several team repairs on the sleeves, and aside from a series of moth holes throughout that doesn’t detract at all from the eye appeal, has been preserved in terrific condition. A rare old treasure from the man they called Slim, who was anything but at 6’3”, 200 pounds. Comes with an LOA, plus a newspaper clipping of Halderson in action wearing a jersey like this, plus one other clipping. There’s no size tag on this old gem but measurements show 22” from front collar to hem and 18 ½” across the underarms.
