Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
Cool offering from the historic 1987 Canada Cup when the Soviet National squad and Team Canada clashed and finally won by Canada in game 3 of the Finals after the hockey powerhouses had split the first 2 of the 3-game showdown. From one of the Soviet stars of this breathtaking ’87 Canada Cup, Sergei Svetlov, is his game-worn CCCP Canada Cup jersey, showing no collar tagging, and with felt “CCCP” lettering and Svetlov’s number “16” heat-pressed on, while individual white “Svetlov” lettering is sewn onto the red nameplate. A nice amount of game marks and board burns are scattered about the front and sleeves (with a touch on the back), and several areas of the sleeve burns are on the verge of becoming small holes. This awesome Canada Cup Soviet gamer has been video-matched on DVD.
The DVD video matches with this jersey on the back nameplate where the “S” is slightly shorter than the other letters, and the “V” is longer and lower. Svetlov notched 3 goals and added 2 assists in his 6 games played in the ’87 Canada Cup, and was ultimately inducted into the Russian and Soviet Hockey Hall of Fame in 1988.
