Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
What a fabulous way to start off a 1930s hockey card set, with Charlie Conacher, the NHL’s number one goal-scorer in five seasons during the decade(!), gracing card #1 in World Wide Gum’s big 135-card ensemble. This superb, peerless Pop-1 example of the Maple Leafs’ legend is the highest scorer at PSA among the nine Conacher V356 cards to have been submitted to the company since the firm’s inception, garnering EX-MT+ 6.5 recognition, distancing an EX 5 and seven others. Like Charlie, so big-time!
Please note that veteran hobbyist and author Bobby Burrell, in his 2006 Vintage Hockey Collector Price Guide, writes “Often assumed to have been issued in 1936-37, recent research has proven that the set was actually produced during the 1937-38 season."
