Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
Terrific Edmonton Oilers jersey worn by Ryan Smyth during the October 1, 1999 game against the New York Rangers that followed the Wayne Gretzky Retirement Night celebration. Each player was issued a set of 3 jerseys (1 per period), produced specifically for the historic occasion. This CCM airknit uniform, tagged in the collar as a "Pro Player" with a size "56", flap, displays the sewn-on team crest on the chest, the "NHL 2000" patch on the right breast, and Ryan's surname across the back shoulders above his number "94". Game wear shows in a nice scattering of marks on the front and sleeves, and special labeling in the tail includes a team set tag with the trainer's facsimile signature and the "Elite Sportswear" logo and reading as "Edmonton Oilers Set #2/B, and another tag with a facsimile Wayne Gretzky signature and the date "October 1st, 1999". A great jersey from a great player, and comes with a Classic Auctions LOA.
