Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
Dazzling is this vintage style jersey that mirrors the one worn by Wayne Gretzky in his first of 18 NHL All-Stars games in 1980 at Detroit. Tagged in the collar as a "Gerry Cosby" with an adjoining size "54" patch, this heavy mesh jersey features sewn-on patches, numbers, and stars. "Gretzky" is sewn directly onto the shirt (no nameplate), and on one of the "9s" on the back is where Wayne inked a nice signature in silver marker, adding his famous number "99". The autograph was obtained by our consignor in a Gretzky private signing. Nice piece that recalls Gretzky's first All-Star appearance while his boyhood idol Gordie Howe played in his last.
