Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
A piece of hockey fight history, this Red Wings jersey was worn by the late Bob Probert during his first spectacular bout with the Rangers' Tie Domi. This photo-matched Probert game-worn jersey spent most of Probert-Domi #1 dangling from the bruising forward's left arm as he traded blows with the Albanian Assassin in their memorable first on-ice dance at the Madison Square Garden on February 9, 1992. This battle-scarred and fight-abused beauty has the hastily-sewn-on A on the left breast, a size 54 flag tag and East Side tagging in the neck that has torn away from its stitching on top and on the left side. It comes with two LOAs and a binder full of 28 photos of Probert wearing the jersey, including 17 that offer photo matches that include the black marks through the "24" on the left sleeve, the hole on the right arm and various marks on the front of the jersey. Blood that covered the upper right breast, including the NHL 75th Anniversary patch, and top of the right shoulder is washed out but visible. The back neck seam is repaired and there is a tear hole to the right of the second R in Probert's surname. Please note that this item may be subject to a silent reserve. Probably the greatest hockey fight jersey ever put up for auction!
