Bobby Orr’s photo-matched and signed 1974-75 Boston Bruins game-worn alternate captain’s jersey is perhaps the final home shirt that Numbah 4 wore while still at the top of his game. While we cannot conclude this definitively, it is believed that this is the only home jersey that Orr wore for all thirty-five regular season games at Boston Garden, with another set having been created for the Bruins' playoff run. Orr won the Art Ross, James Norris and Lester B. Pearson Trophies in 1974-75 before the injuries added up and robbed him of his game-changing speed and mobility. The jersey is matched to action photos that include the big fold on the bottom of the number 4 on the back, the reddish team repair near right front side and uneven alignment of the black stripes on hem below. Bobby signed on the right breast in black marker, along with a pale autograph on the black twill portion of his legendary number 4 sewn on the back in double twill with white accent stitching on the edges of the black twill over the gold, which is the same for the numbers on both sleeves. Wilson size 50 tagging sits in the back of the collar and this Orr gamer has a two-piece garter-style fight strap. The alternate captain's A was removed from the left breast, a practice that is customary for Orr game-worn jerseys. There are four team repairs on the front, including the photo match sewing fix, three on the left sleeve and six on the right sleeve, including one to the left of the number 4. More game wear shows in pilling on the bottom of the front tail, interior pilling, board burns on the right sleeve and small light brown stains on the bottom of the Bruins crest and to the left of the top of the 4 on the back. There are a couple of blue marks on the upper right back that do not diminish the display of this historic Bobby Orr game-worn jersey. A MeiGray Vintage LOA and certificate of registration accompany this photo-matched gamer along with a JSA LOA for the autograph. Please note that this item may be subject to a silent reserve. The thicker white sewing thread on the top of the 4 on the right sleeve and the top of the triangle inside the 4 are also visible in the photos.
