Rare and awesome find is Kerry Ketter's 1972-73 Atlanta Flames inaugural season game-worn jersey. This scarce gamer from the Flames' NHL debut features the distinctive gold-red-gold stripe pattern on the tails and sleeves and alternating red, gold and white collar striping that were only worn during Atlanta's first season. The Flames' first-year game-worn jerseys were handed down to their minor league affiliate, the Omaha Knights of the CHL. Included is the original Flaming K crest that was put on Ketter's #24 jersey when it was sent to Omaha. The outline of that now-removed crest can be seen on the jersey, which now has been replaced with a Flaming A crest, not the original one, whose outline can also be seen inside the jersey. Rawlings size 46 and laundry instruction tagging is sewn inside the left rear tail. There are light board burns and unrepaired burn holes on the sleeves and the stub of a cut fight strap inside the back. The stripes on the Flames’ game-worn white home jerseys in subsequent seasons featured red lines outlining the outer edges of the gold bands on the tails and sleeves.
An unrepaired hole on the left front tail does not diminish the display of this rare Atlanta Flames game-worn inaugural season jersey.
