Wondrous 1967-68 California/Oakland Seals game-worn jersey is an original from the ill-fated franchise's inaugural season when the NHL expanded and doubled in size from six to a dozen teams. Defensemen Bert Marshall and Kent Douglas both wore #19 for the team, which began the season as the California Seals before switching its name to the Oakland Seals partway into its debut campaign. Douglas was traded by Oakland to Detroit on January 9, 1968. In return, the Seals acquired Marshall along with two other players. The Seals' first set of jerseys had the original "C" logo taken off and replaced with an "O" logo, and there is evidence of a removed team crest here. The "C, for California Seals" loose crest included with this gamer is a beauty from the original team set featuring intricate and colorful cable stitching. The numbers on the back have the top layer of white twill that was sewn on by the team because the original blue and white double twill numbers were difficult to make out by fans against the green durene material. The alternate captain's "A" is sewn on the left breast in blue and white double twill. The numbers on the shoulders were removed. There is a solid green thread team repair on the back of the lower left sleeve, a few board burns on the lower right sleeve, and light reddish-brown stains in the middle of the white tail on the front. A rare opportunity, this classic California/Oakland Seals expansion season game-worn jersey comes with a Classic Auctions LOA.
