Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014

Tremendously talented Mikko Koivu started serious hockey with a bang by capturing gold in 2000 and bronze in 2001 with the U18 Finnish Juniors, along with silver medals in World Junior Championship play, also in 2001 and in 2002, making it four medals in junior international play for the fellow who now captains the NHL’s Minnesota Wild. We’ve got Koivu’s 2002 WJC Team Finland game-worn jersey, plus a pair of signed Minnesota Wild gloves up for grabs here, with the 2002 jersey tagged in the collar as a “Nike (size) 58” with an “IIHF” patch below. The big and beautiful Team Finland crest, which shows some puckering, is sewn on the front, while Koivu’s name lettering is sewn onto the nameplate and double tackle twill number “9” is sewn on the back and on both sleeves. On the left breast of this gamer is what appears to be evidence of a former “C”, and marks are scattered about the front and on both sleeves. Board burns on the left sleeve and a touch of red paint transfer on the right sleeve are to note as well. Koivu has signed with clear black marker on the each thumb of his game-worn Minnesota Wild “CCM” gloves, and we see a handwritten “9” on the cuff of each, along with a handwritten “3” on the palms. These Wild team-colored gamers, which come with a team LOA, are in great condition, showing a small scattering of marks and some scuffing, and the palms are hole-free. A couple of really nice treasures from a great player.
