Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014

It was tense times for players and fans alike as Team Canada, with their backs against the wall, ventured into Moscow for the final four games of the historic 1972 Summit Series and then again two years later in 1974. Helping matters was encouragement from home, and fans did their part with well-wishes in different ways, including the sending of Scotia Bank “Go Canada” postcards with a Canada-Russia illustration on the front and room for a message plus the address of Palace of Sports in Moscow. It was a great way to cheer on the boys in these two very intriguing ice wars. We have 240+ of these cards from 1972 and ’74, all blank and a mixture of both English and French - “Go Canada” and “Vas-Y Canada” with the 1972 cards, which total 11 English and 47 French, measuring approximately 4” x 6” and the ’74 cards (81 English and 108 French) at 3 ¾” x 5 ¾”. Preserved in terrific like-new condition with only a tiny hint of edge yellowing on a few and some very minor wear to corners, these vintage postcards retail for $5.00 to $10.00 each, so this entire lot could prove to be an excellent value for the entrepreneurial dealer. Go Canada! Vas-Y Canada!
