Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014

Mark Messier did his part in the 1991 Canada Cup, the final time the great tourney would be held, with Moose contributing 8 points, third best on a star-studded Canadian squad that would capture gold when the final siren sounded. We've got one of Mark's game-used sticks from that '91 showdown, with original black tape on the blade and knob, and with the shaft painted completely black for obvious sponsorship reasons. Best of all, on the clear wood near the blade is a stamped "Team C", along with various other markings such as "7 HRS AM", and some illegible under the fibreglass. We also include a photo of Messier holding a similar stick during the 1991 Canada Cup in which he didn't use exclusively that type of stick. Great player, great tournament, great stick.
