Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2014
Until 1964, various club teams represented Canada in international play, but it all changed when Father David Bauer put together a National Team squad to do battle with the Russians and company until NHL pros ultimately took over in 1972. From that inaugural 1964 Team Canada we have a game-used stick wielded by star Terry O'Malley and signed by 19 members of the squad, including the legendary and deceased Father Bauer. The stick, a "Bobby Bauer", retains original black tape on the blade and white on the knob, and shows a scattering of marks from the heel upwards. "O'Malley" is handwritten on the upper shaft, along with various numbers, and "7" is stamped just below. The signatures have been signed blue ballpoint pen and are clear, beautiful, and absolutely legible. Along with Father David Bauer’s signature, those who have signed include Terry Clancy, Paul Conlin, Barry MacKenzie, D. McLean, Terry O’Malley, Ross Morrison, Gary Begg, Hank Akervall, Marshall Johnston, Ken Broderick, Brian Conacher, Jack Wilson, Bob Forhan, Roger Bourbonnais, Seth Martin, and one other.
