It is the most patriotic hockey sweater in Canadian history, the white Team Canada 1972 jersey worn by the greatest NHL players of the day in their showdown against the Soviet national team in Russia. Offered is Brad Park's photo-matched Team Canada 1972 white #5 gamer which he wore for all four Summit Series games in Moscow, including the decisive Game 8 on September 28, 1972. With Bobby Orr unavailable to play throughout the Canada-Russia series because of a knee injury, Park stepped up to fill the breach on the blue line as the New York Rangers HOFer saw duty in all eight games of the tournament. Park had a goal and an assist in the first period of the final game as he shared Canada's game MVP honors with Paul Henderson, whose delivered his third straight game-winning goal with 34 seconds remaining to give Canada a 6-5 win in the game, and a 4-3-1 edge in the series. This historic game-worn jersey is photo-matched by the distinctive black mark on the front of the right shoulder, above where the yoke seam passes over the front sleeve seam, to two action shots of Park in Moscow. The manufacturer's black and gold "Tricot Sport Maska" tag is stitched into the collar beside remnants of another tag, long since removed. The inside layer of white material beneath the red Maple Leaf on the front tail has been trimmed out to make the jersey lighter, which was a typical customization for this iconic set that we observed on ones worn by Dennis Hull, Yvan Cournoyer, and the famous $1.275-million Henderson game-worn jersey. More game wear shows in a diagonal black mark above the hem on the front left tail, and lighter black marks on the left and right hem, an unrepaired cut/burn hole on the rear hem, black marks with red paint transfer on the left rear tail, black marks and red paint transfer on the back of the right sleeve, and black marks on the left sleeve with a line of red paint transfer beside one long black mark. Please note that this item may be subject to a silent reserve. Comes with Brad Park's signed LOA.
