Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2014
Turk Broda and Bill Durnan, two legendary goalies who faced each other in the 1940s, lead chronologically here, with Toronto’s Broda winning the condition battle of two scarce Quaker Oats green back versions of Parkhurst’s 1955-56 issue. We see #23 as EX, while the #63 card of Montreal’s Durnan is G-VG with two horizontal creases, corner/edge wear and light staining/soiling on the reverse. A nicely-centered Marcel Paille SP card is nicest among three ’64-65 Topps “tallboy” cards and appears NM+ if not a notch higher, with Glenn Hall off-centered but otherwise NM. Gordie Howe displays like an EX card but is lowered by discoloration, (possibly moisture) spots on the reverse. Completing are sharp ’68-69 O-Pee-Chee cards of Frank Mahovlich (NM+) and Dean Prentice (NM-MT). Some neat stuff here!
