Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2014
Men who proudly donned Toronto’s blue and white sweaters win our consignor’s Bee Hive team award as far as quantity goes, with a whopping and even two hundred premium pictures contributing to an interesting ensemble. Forty-one Group 1 photos are generally lower grade examples but include a few of the more scarce affairs, with a decent G-VG Gaye Stewart, (white “away” uniform), leading the way, followed closely condition-wise by Bud Poile. Pictures of Ernie Dickens and Bill Kendall have multiple major flaws including tape stains and clipped corners. Some duplication among the rest of the earlier ones, with two or three each of Apps, Boll, Broda, Chamberlain, Conacher, Davidson, Hamilton, Kampman, Langelle, N. Metz and Stanowski. A wide range of conditions is to mention regarding the stack of Group 2s, with some intermittent low grade “dogs” spotted, but the majority in handled-but-not-abused collectible shape. Duplication includes between three and six examples of the likes of Arbour, Armstrong, Baun, Bolton, Bower, Brewer, Broda (6), Brian Cullen, Douglas, Duff, Harris, Kelly, Kennedy, Nevin, Olmstead, Pulford, Stanley and Stewart, with no real “tough” pictures present. Nineteen Group 3 “wood grains” include mostly EX-or-better photos and more duplication. Either an instant collection with loads of traders or inventory for Leafs die-hards is what will be delivered to the high bidder who’ll have fun sifting through two hundred Bee Hives!
