Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2014
Fabulous pieces of Canadiana are these little treasures which pay tribute to Canada's top athletes of the day and which had their original tabs or "coupons" at the bottom cut off. Hockey legend Newsy Lalonde's card #95 is an otherwise nice EX example, with golfers 32-Ada MacKenzie and 72-George Lyon also crease-free and joining hockey players 82-Vernon Forbes and 106-Red Porter, (creased VGs) among the highlights. Cards featuring Canada's Davis Cup team and 1924 Olympic boxers are also notable. The remainder represent numerous sports with the majority exhibiting handling/flaws in the form of a crease or more and/or corner/edge wear. Just the Porter and one other (#66) are the "thin" stock versions, with the list of numbers available on our website. Swell looks into Canada's sporting past! Also present are card #s 3, 4, 17, 18, 20, 21, 24, 29, 33, 37, 44, 45, 50, 53, 66, 67, 73, 75, 76, 79, 80, 98, 103, 105 and 109. Sports included are track & field, swimming, diving, rowing, football, wrestling, basketball, speed skating, cricket, baseball, cycling and polo.
