Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2014
A special card from a special athlete, Johnny Powers, with this #20 example from the 1910 Imperial Tobacco C59 lacrosse set slabbed as a PSA 7 NM, a Pop-1 with none graded higher. Only 2.72% of the 1,066 cards from that set submitted to PSA received PSA 7 grading, in top 3% of all cards submitted from that set. Mr. Powers scored 3 goals and had 10 PIMs in 5 games with the Capitals the previous 1910 season and is a member of the Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame for lacrosse. One of the greatest lacrosse players in the game, he was considered one of the finest runners and stickhandlers in Canada when the sport was at its peak, and he starred on the 1906 champion Ottawa Capitals. Equally talented in other sports, he played football with the Rough Riders championship teams at about the same time.
