Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014

The fascinating and coveted Maple Crispette set is led off numerically by the rather fascinating Dunc Munro, the first captain of the Montreal Maroons, the team’s first season of 1924-25 season coinciding with the Maple Crispette release. Munro had starred at football with the Toronto Argonauts before helping the Toronto Granites hockey team to the Allan Cup in 1923 and then Olympic gold medal in 1924....as team captain! Munro is said to have been the wealthiest player of his era thanks in part to his venture into the stock market and his Maroons’ contract which called for him to receive royalties from the sale of game night programs at the Montreal Forum! Graded VG 3 by PSA, this example is one of just seven Munro rookie cards to have ever been sent to the grading firm for inspection. It is a Pop-1 with just two higher.
