Stunning 1978-79 Winnipeg Jets Avco Cup championship gold and diamond ring was presented to veteran defenseman Paul Terbenche. Before joining the NHL, the original Winnipeg Jets capped their seven-year run in the World Hockey Association with a six-game win over Wayne Gretzky and the Edmonton Oilers in the WHA playoff final to claim their third title over the rebel league's final four seasons. The tableau shimmers with a trio of diamonds, each one representing one of the Jets' three Avco Cup wins, set within the team logo and surrounded by "WHA Champions" around the bezel, all in raised gold. The right shank reads "Winnipeg Jets" above a banner with "Avco Cup - '76-'78-'79" on it, and "WHA '72-'79" and "NHL '79" at the bottom. The left shank features "19" and "79" on either side of the bowl of a raised Avco Cup with "Tebenche" across the top. "Wpg 7 - Edm 3", the score of the last WHA game ever played, is engraved inside the size 11 band, which is also stamped "Jostens 10K". Worn with obvious pride, this beautiful bauble weighs in at about 28 grams and displays light surface scratches and a little smoothing to the lettering on the bezel. Conjuring up great memories of Winnipeg's pro hockey heyday in the late-1970s, this sensational WHA Jets championship ring would make for a more than welcome addition to any Jets/WHA/ring collection.
