Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2014
What a sight it was. Gretzky, Lemieux, and Murphy racing up the ice towards the Soviet goal, with number 99 getting the puck back to Mario who buried it with 1:26 remaining to win the 1987 Canada Cup for Canada. All 3 final games ending in 6-5, with Gretzky and Lemieux finishing 1 and 2 in the points parade. Memorable and historic, when Canada-Russia showdowns were as good as it gets. Offered is a Nike/Team Canada jersey with the beautiful "Lemieux" lettering sewn on the nameplate, and with Mario signing his name on one of the two number "6s" in clear and nice silver marker. A gorgeous and unused Team Canada/Lemieux jersey, with a Frozen Pond hologram affixed on the back number with an accompanying Frozen Pond COA. It was a series when a nation held its' breath. One of the greatest hockey clashes in history.
