Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014

For all intents and purposes, Jean Beliveau practically owned Quebec City when he was starring for Quebec Aces of the QSHL. The towering center had cemented his reputation as the best player NOT playing in the NHL, his salary with the senior team exceeded most NHL players’, and although the Montreal Canadiens would finally get Le Gros Bill’s name inked on a contract, it took some serious convincing as Beliveau was a happy camper in the provincial capital. Offered is a gorgeous Aces Heritage replica jersey in mint, unworn condition, tagged in the collar as “Ebbets Field Flannels”, along with a size “L” flap and attached “NHL” and “Heritage” tags. The iconic Aces crest adorns the front and as a capper, the number “9” sewn on the back, Beliveau’s Quebec number, is signed with black marker by the great man. Big Jean would spend two brilliant seasons with the Aces, 1951-52 and ’52-53, before finally heading down the road to Montreal where NHL superstardom awaited, and ultimately induction into the Hall of Fame in 1972.
