The Detroit Red Wings finally brought the Stanley Cup back to Motown in the spring of 1997 when Mike Vernon, Stevie Y and company claimed the team's first championship in 42 years. This stunning gold ring is what team members received to commemorate the joyous occasion of the Red Wings' first Cup since 1955 after they completed a four-game sweep of the Philadelphia Flyers in the final. Darren McCarty delivered the Cup winner in a 2-1 win at the Joe to the delight of the Red Wings' long-suffering faithful. A golden Red Wings logo is applied to a big red stone on the tableau of this striking creation, with a sloping "Stanley Cup Champions" encircling it in raised gold. To note, the original stone set in the middle of the winged wheel logo which was missing has been replaced with a diamond. "Detroit Red Wings, Est. 1926" appears above the NHL shield in raised gold on the right shank. The Stanley Cup appears between "1997" on the left shank with "Glasgow" engraved on a banner above it. Presented to a Red Wings staffer, the size 10 1/2 ring has "Josten's 10K" stamped on the interior of the band and remains in excellent condition and will come with a letter of authenticity. This golden Stanley Cup championship ring deserves its place in your Red Wings shrine. Please note that this item may be subject to a silent reserve.
