Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2014
Hockey legend Terry Sawchuk's Northlands game-used stick dates from the iconic goalie's final season with the Detroit Red Wings. Sawchuk already had an astounding 102 of his 103 career shutouts to his credit when he appeared in 13 games in his third and final go-round with the Red Wings in 1968-69. "Sawchuk" is stamped on the lower part of the shaft which has the "Glass Fused" logo higher up that dates it to this era. The late, great HOFer's original tape jobs remain on the knob, blade and upper paddle, while the rows on the lower paddle are missing. Great red goalpost paint transfer on the back of the shaft and nice wear along the bottom edge of the blade, which has a chip missing on the back edge of the heel that has a crack above it. An awesome display piece from one of the greatest and most successful goalies to ever strap on the pads!
