The Legendary Punch Line and rookie goaltender Bill Durnan are among the 17 amazing Montreal Canadiens signatures on an 8" x 10" sheet mounted inside a framed and matted display that also includes a photo of the Cup-winning team and a tasteful plaque. The 16 players and legendary coach Dick Irvin have signed in wonderfully clear and bold fountain pen, with only a touch of scratching on Irvin's and Phil Watson's sigs because of the fountain pens used. A gorgeous piece that includes deceased HOFers Maurice Richard (ind. 1961, dec. 2000), Toe Blake (ind. 1966, dec. 1995), Bill Durnan (ind. 1964, dec. 1972), Buddy O'Connor (ind. 1988, dec. 1977), Emile Bouchard (ind. 1966, dec. 2012), and Dick Irvin (ind. 1958, dec. 1957). Remarkable treasure for Habs fans and hockey fans in general. Others who have signed this stunning piece include Murph Chamberlain, Bob Fillion, Ray Getliffe, Glen Harmon, Jerry Hefferman, Leo Lamoureau, Fernand Majeau, Mike McMahon, and Gerry McNeil. The ’43-44 campaign was remarkable in many ways. Durnan was convinced to join the club after first deciding against it, and proceeded to win the Vezina Trophy. Maurice Richard, now known as the “Rocket” scored 32 goals in his first full season and his 54 points placed him just behind Lach and Blake in team scoring. Durnan and Irvin were named to the First All-Star Team while Bouchard, Lach and Richard were named to the Second Team. During the playoffs, Richard would score all 5 goals in the Habs 5-1 win over Toronto in game 2. And in the Finals against Chicago, the Punch Line scored 10 of the team’s 16 goals as the Habs swept the Hawks in four games.
