Amazing opportunity is this rare 1961-62 Toronto Maple Leafs Stanley Cup championship trophy presented to defenseman Larry Hillman. There are a total of 15 members of the Hockey Hall of Fame among the names of the players, executives and staff engraved on the bowl. The Maple Leafs ended an 11-year Stanley Cup drought with their championship in the spring of 1962 that began a run of three straight Cups, and four in seven years. Toronto beat the New York Rangers 4-2 in the semi-final to make it to the final for the third time in four years. Unlike 1959 and 1960, when they lost to the reigning Stanley Cup champions, the Maple Leafs beat Chicago in six games in the final to claim their first title since 1951, when Bill Barilko delivered the Cup-winning goal in overtime. HOFers Frank Mahovlich, George Armstrong and Tim Horton led the way in the final with seven points each and goalies Bower and Simmons teamed up to win two games apiece against the Black Hawks. The silver-plated trophy has "National Hockey League Stanley Cup Winners 1961-1962 Toronto Maple Leafs Hockey Club" engraved on the bowl along with the name of team president Stafford Smythe, team executives, including HOFers Conn Smythe, King Clancy and Harold Ballard, coach Punch Imlach, along with fellow HOFers Kelly, Keon, Stanley, Duff, Olmstead, Arbour and Pulford among the players that feature Hillman among a stellar supporting cast featuring the likes of Brewer, Baun, Litzenberger, Nevin, Shack, Harris, MacMillan, Simmons and Stewart. This cherished trophy with elegant engraving has been wonderfully preserved with one loose nail at the bottom. Maple Leafs personal Stanley Cups are extremely scarce and very seldom offered, and this beauty comes with Larry Hillman's signed LOA.
