Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2014
Early hockey legend Dickie Boon received this Omega wristwatch from the Canadian Arena Company for his induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Boon, who died in 1961, captained the Montreal AAA to Stanley Cup wins in 1902-03, and then formed and managed the Wanderers dynasty that won the Cup four times from 1906-10. "To Dickie Boon, Montreal Wanderers, from the Canadian Arena Co. commemorating Hockey Hall of Fame, March 19, 1953" is engraved on the backplate. Elegant wristwatch remains in working order, though it is unclear if it keeps accurate time. Comes with a signed LOA from the Boon family. The date engraved on the backplate is likely when he was presented the wristwatch because Boon was elected into the HOF the previous year. There is a vintage repair on the back plate with a spot in the A for “Wanderers”, and there is some dust on the face inside the crystal.
