Young Melodie Daoust, who won a gold medal with Canada's National Women's Under-22/Development Team at the 2013 Meco Cup in Füssen, Germany, suited up for her first time on the biggest of stages, the 2014 Sochi Olympics, and we have her game-worn jersey from Canada's 5-0 win in the team's first game of the tourney against Switzerland. This black third jersey, which comes with an LOA, has the Nike logo and size 54 printed in the back of the collar above a sewn-on IIHF tag (and "G" and "W" fly tags), Nike's inventory bar code is heat-pressed into the inner rear hem, and a "Sochi.ru 2014" patch is sewn onto the right rear tail. Marks are noticeable on both sleeves as well as on the back hem. Melanie notched a goal in Canada's other game against the Swiss in the semi-final, before winning gold against the Americans three days later. Inspired by memorable vintage Team Canada jerseys, this black third jersey was designed to inspire our Olympians to win again. The advanced polyester/spandex fabric used makes for a remarkably lightweight jersey which has an approximate weight of 448 grams and is made from 73 percent recycled polyester as part of Nike’s commitment to produce performance apparel with reduced environmental impact. Each jersey is made from up to 17 recycled plastic water bottles! The fight strap is intact and a long laundry instruction fly tag is sewn into the inside of the left seam. A glued on double twill gold and white maple leaf is on the left sleeve with gold piping and a Canadian Olympic Committee logo twill patch is glued on the right sleeve. Rubberized maple leafs are applied around the collar. White twill surname letters are glued onto a sewn-on nameplate while the white and red twill numbers on sleeves and back are sewn-on. The bold white twill “Canada” is glued on with gold piping and was to remind the world of Canada’s hockey heritage while the gold piping on the badges and gold maple leaf on the shoulder was to remind the world of Canada’s goal to win gold medals in Sochi.Classic Auctions in association with Frameworth sports marketing, are proud to offer you this unique piece of memorabilia from the 2014 Winter Olympics.
