Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
A superb piece of Montreal Royals' history is this fabulous find, autographed by the 1953 International League champions who then defeated Kansas City for the Junior World Series title. Manager Walter Alston's signature is near the laces to the left of International League president's Frank Shaugnessy's facsimile job, while to the right of it are seven, including that of Sandy Amoros. Future managers Dick Williams and Roy Hartsfield signed below the Spalding stamp, while Tommy Lasorda's partially scuffed sig is among seven to the right of the Don Hoak-signed sweet spot. A sweet piece indeed, with the complete signing line-up listed below. Official International League ball also includes the autographs of Rocky Nelson, “H” Fernandez (Chico), Ed Roebuck, Bob Alexander, Ken Lehman, Walt Moryn, Earl Mossor, Ken Wood, Stan Rojek, Hampton Coleman, Arthur Fabbro, Ronnie Lee, Robert Ludwick, Charles Thompson, Frank Marchio, Ernie Yelen and Gilbert Mills. A little bit weak “W” in the Alston signature but otherwise it’s one of the best, with all autographs identifiable. Splendid opportunity here as Royals memorabilia surfaces infrequently, even here in Montreal!
