Mickey Mantle and Ted Williams have both signed this fantastic framed display, along with fellow Triple Crown club members Frank Robinson and Carl Yastrzemski. The four Hall of Famers are the most recent members of one of baseball's most exclusive clubs, batters who have led their league in average, home runs and runs batted in, all in the same season. The four sluggers, who all accomplished the feat in the American League, have signed in blue sharpie on their respective images in this inspired artwork that is mounted in a 26" x 31" wood frame. Comes with a PSA/DNA letter of authenticity. Williams, who died in 2002, accomplished the feat twice, first in 1942 and again in 1947 following a three-year stint as a World War II fighter pilot. After failing to win the MVP award despite hitting .406 in 1941, Williams batted .356 with 36 homers and 137 RBIs the following year in his final season before his career was interrupted by the first of two lengthy military stints. He joined Rogers Hornsby as the only player in baseball history to win a second Triple Crown in 1947 when he led the AL in all three categories with a .343 average, 32 homers and 114 RBIs. Mantle, who died in 1995, won his Triple Crown in 1956 when he led the league with a .353 average, 52 home runs and 130 RBIs. Robinson became the next member of the exclusive club in 1966 when he won the MVP award in his American League debut. Robinson, the Montreal Expos' last manager, hit .316 with 49 homers and 122 RBIs during the regular season before leading the Baltimore Orioles to their first World Series title with a four-game sweep of Los Angeles despite the Dodgers' fearsome one-two combination of Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale. The feat was repeated by Yastrzemski the following season when he led the "Impossible Dream" Red Sox to a surprise pennant and within one win of a World Series title. Yaz hit .326 with 44 homers and 121 RBIs. The last National League player to accomplish the Triple Crown was St. Louis' Ducky Medwick, who hit .374 with 31 homers and 154 RBIs for the Cardinals in 1937.
