Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
The Montreal Canadiens from 1955-60 are considered by many hockey purists to be the finest hockey team in history. Boasting no less than 8 future members of the Hockey Hall of Fame, including, of course, the great Maurice Richard, the 1959 Canadiens won the league championship as well as their fourth straight Stanley Cup. This 13" silver-plated trophy mounted on a brown wooden base was produced by Boffey in the early-1990s to be displayed at the Maurice Richard museum in Montreal and was originally obtained from the Maurice Richard Estate auction in 2002. A plaque on the base reads "H.R.H. Prince of Wales Trophy - Maurice Richard" and the opposite side is inscribed "1958-59 Club de Hockey Canadiens Inc". This trophy has had the three laurel leaves repaired/reattached, has remains of clear scotch tape on the back and is in otherwise excellent condition.
