Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013

Rough and tough d-man Terry Carkner donned this Quebec Nordiques CCM gamer during the 1987-88 season, a year that would see the big fellow rack up 27 points and 159 penalty minutes. This blue Nordiques gamer is tagged in the collar with the born-on-date "86 04", and shows solid wear, with two distinct team repairs on the left sleeve and three on the right sleeve, as well as unrepaired holes on each sleeve. Plenty of marks, blood stains and fine inner pilling round out this blue beauty from a blue-collar defenceman. To note is paint cracking from the silkscreened areas. The jersey also shows evidence of a former nameplate, leading to the conclusion that David Shaw, who played for the Nords in 1986-97 and who wore number 4 that season, was the previous owner. Carkner had joined the Nordiques for just one season after a brief stint in New York, and would eventually wind up in Philly, Detroit, and Florida before ending his 13-year career. An LOA from gamewornauctions.net accompanies this well-worn vintage Nordiques jersey from Carkner's one season in the provincial capital.
