Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013

The acquisition of All-Star Darren Puppa dramatically improved Tampa Bay’s goaltending situation in the Lightning’s 1993-94 sophomore season. Claimed by Florida from Toronto in the 1993 expansion draft, Puppa, who represented Buffalo at the 1990 All-Star Game in Pittsburgh, moved across the Sunshine State the following day when the Lightning claimed him in the second phase of the expansion draft. He posted a respectable 22-33-6 mark in his first of seven seasons in Tampa Bay with four shutouts, a 2.71 goals-against-average and an .899 save percentage. This gamer with CCM and size 54 flag tags in the back of the neck has no obvious wear to report. It was originally obtained from Milt Byron, who sold a lot of Tampa Bay jerseys back in the day. Lightning 1993 Set 3 team stamp with Phil Esposito’s facsimile signature is heat screened in white inside the rear hem. The numbers sewn on the back and both sleeves and surname letters and nameplate exhibit some puckering.
