Fitting pieces for a shrine to the late Pelle Lindbergh include a pair of vintage Flyers and Wales All-Stars pro weight replica jerseys, ticket stubs from Philadelphia's games just prior to and immediately after his death, and various clippings and modern print photos of featuring the ill-fated Swedish goalie. The memorial card handed out at the Flyers' first game after Lindbergh's fatal car crash comes with a ticket from the game. Also featured is an original art poster signed and dated "Elston '85" displaying the artist's poignant Lindbergh tribute. The Flyers Lindbergh #31 oranged mesh jersey has Eagle and size 50 flag tags in the neck, a fight strap, Flyers crest, numbers and surname letters on a nameplate in sewn-on pro style twill.
The Wales Conference Lindbergh #31 white airknit jersey has Gerry Cosby tagging and a CCM size L flag tag in the back of the neck. The embroidered CCM logo is sewn on the right rear tail and the Cosby logo is screened in black on the left rear tail. Surname letters in black and orange double twill are sewn directly onto the jersey. Pro-style “Wales” in cascading letters on the front are also sewn on as are the numbers, stars, NHL logos and crests. A few light stains, mostly on the right front.
The Elston art poster diplays to roughly 11” x 8” as mounted in a black and dark orange matte in a 16 1/4” x 12 1/4” black metal frame. The edges of the poster have a bluish silvery tint.
The full ticket from the November 14, 1985 game against Edmonton, the first game the Flyers played after Lindbergh’s fatal accident, has a black marker mark across the reverse. The Lindbergh memorial card handed out by the team at that game is encased between two plastic slabs.
There is one ticket stub from the last game Lindbergh played on November 7, 1985 and two ticket stubs from Philadelphia’s game on November 9, 1985 when Lindbergh was rested in his final appearance in a Flyers uniform with backup Bob Froese getting the start.
There are five other tickets stubs featuring Lindbergh photos, including two from later in the 1985-86 season.
Lindbergh and “The Tragedy in Philly” are pictured on the cover of a November 22, 1985 issue of the Hockey News included here along with a thick stack of yellowing newspaper clippings, including Swedish newspapers, about Lindbergh and his fatal accident as well as the December 1985 issue of Hockey Digest with Lindbergh on the cover and a few other Swedish magazines with Lindbergh pictured.
Some great images of Lindbergh posed and in action are featured in a grouping of some 10 modern print photos, roughly 8x10s.
