Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
Spectacular and original panoramic shot of the 1931 Ottawa Rough Riders posing in front of fans in the stands at Ottawa's famed Lansdowne Park. Measuring a lovely 38 1/4 inches long by 8" high, this fabulous piece, which would look outstanding framed, has been extremely well-preserved with a few light fold lines / creases and a few small tears on the edges. One man of note stands out from the group, Tom Clancy, dad of legendary HOFer King Clancy. During Tom's playing days, the football wasn't snapped as it is now and was "heeled" instead. Tom became known as the "King of the Heelers" which was shortened to "King," and the nickname eventually became his son's handle. All in all, a remarkable and wonderful image from the early years of Canadian pro football.
