Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
Intriguing little cigarette cards here offer fantastic color images and interesting facts about various sports and games around the world and were issued by the Imperial Tobacco Company of Great Britain and Ireland. Card #3 depicts a game of hockey being played in Montreal, with the description on the back including “is played with great enthusiasm all over Canada” and “Bandy, as played in the Engadine, differs only slightly form Ice-Hockey.” Most notable of the rest include #25, entitled “Baseball, U.S.A.” and featuring an image of Babe Ruth, with American Football pictured and described on card #24. The set, which also includes skiing, bob-sleighing, curling, figure skating, hurling, polo and others, averages EX-EX+, with a chipped upper corner on the hockey card to mention, along with corner wear on the baseball card rendering it VG-EX. All-in-all, a neat little find!
