Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013

A unique and extremely scarce issue put out by O’Keefe’s Beverages to honor the Toronto Maple Leafs’ 1931-32 Stanley Cup championship was a set of 20 coasters, or blotters, measuring 6” by 6” from their furthest points and tough to locate in any condition. PSA Population Report figures confirm the scarcity, with just 28 total coasters sent to PSA over the years, with our consignor’s fascinating set featuring 13 “highest-graded-at-PSA” examples. The coasters feature the artwork of prominent Canadian cartoon artist Lou Skuce. ......Andy Blair, whose two first period goals in the 6-4 Cup-clinching victory over the New York Rangers staked the Leafs to an early lead they would not relinquish, appears here, with those important goals mentioned at the bottom of coaster No. 5. Its FR 1.5 grade places it in first place at PSA, with just one other Blair, (slabbed “AUTH”), ever submitted to the company for encapsulation.
