Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
The first home of the Boston Bruins is pictured on the cover here, eight years before the Bruins came into existence! Boston’s “Arena” hosted the college/amateur game at the time, with the Harvard Freshman and their Yale counterparts listed in lineups for a Friday, February 16th, 1917 game. We believe the “Ingalls” listed for Yale would be David Sinton Ingalls, who the Ingalls Hockey Rink (aka The Whale) at Yale University is named after (along with his son) and who was actually the US Navy's only flying ace of World War I, with six credited victories; thus he was the first ace in U. S. Navy history! Eight-page 6” by 9” program also has lineups for an Arena Hockey Club vs. B.A.A. game the following night and advertises an upcoming Harvard vs. Princeton encounter, mentioning how the outcome will have “a direct bearing on the collegiate championship of this country.” Poor condition to report with scotch tape repair (upper half of the spine), staining, folds and two tears in the back cover, but still oh so intriguing, with some interesting reading on the “Hockey Gossip” page, written by one Fred J Hoey.
