Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
Seldom-seen group shot of the reigning Stanley Cup champion Montreal Canadiens looks to be a training camp affair taken prior to the 1930-31 season, with a total of twenty players joining coach Cecil Hart in the 4" by 11-3/4" glossy. Interesting how hardly any are looking into the camera's lense, with however Howie Morenz smiling nicely at the far left and cap-wearing Aurele Joliat with his eyes closed. A little "white" around Gagnon and Lesieur and notes on the back when their respective images were published (Jan/31) join a Montreal Star stamp. Hainsworth, Lepine, Leduc, Mondou and the Mantha brothers are also notable, with a crease down the middle and peripheral creases/cracks to mention. Habs made it two Cups in a row in the spring of 1931.
