Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
Amazing pre-World War II multi-signed stick is covered with 1930s and 1940s Montreal Canadiens autographs from the likes of deceased HOFers Sylvio Mantha, Toe Blake and Bill Durnan! Mantha has signed towards the top of the shaft on one side, one of seven fountain pen autographs, including King Clancy and Pit Lepine, along with a handwritten notation and lead pencil autographs from Ken Mosdell and HOFer Buddy O'Connor. Maurice Richard, Ken Reardon, Blake and Durnan are among several lead pencil signatures that can be made out among the faint autographs along the other side of the shaft. What a find! Handwritten fountain pen notation on the shaft reads, “To (name appears to be ‘Larry’), a damn good hockey player too!” Lamoureux, Leger and Chamberlain are the other lead pencil signatures that can be made out on the side of the shaft signed by Richard, Reardon, Blake and Durnan. A vintage tape job remains on the blade. Faint “Patented 1934” stamp can be made out on the top edge of the shaft just above the heel.
