Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013

Dazzling AHL Calder Cup Championship ring, presented to "Daigneault" from the front office of the '85 champion Sherbrooke Canadiens. This beauty has "Les Canadiens de Sherbrooke" on the face, encircling a large zircon and blue stone, while an image of the Calder Cup graces one shank and a Canadiens logo and "Daigneault" grace the opposite shank. The ring is a size 8 1/2, has a weight of about 26 grams, and engraved on the inner band is a partially worn off "10K". This stunner is in superb condition, and shows only very small traces of scuffing or marks of any kind. Comes in its original Balfour case, and includes an LOA from Classic Auctions. Just a wonderful bauble for the offering. The Sherbrooke squad had bested the Baltimore in the six-game final, with gorgeous championship rings such as this one being presented. Bolstered for the playoffs by Patrick Roy and Stephane Richer, both of whom joined the team after their junior careers ended, Roy’s playoff performance with Sherbrooke in the ’85 playoffs would see the future NHL HOFer post a 10-3 record, and only a year later Patrick would be in the nets for the Montreal Canadiens where he would be fitted for another championship ring.
